Faith RequiredTrue Worship by J. Ross Greer of The Place of Grace Ministries (about the ministry) [Note: If you'd like to read more from J. Ross Greer, be sure to subscribe to his daily e-mail list A Word For The Church.] Have you ever noticed how much is not said in the first chapter of the Bible? God states His existence without one shred of evidence. He offers no proof of His acts of creation. Do you suppose He is requiring us to accept His statements by faith? Faith is a basic requirement of worship. We must believe that God is who He says He is and that He has done what He says He has done. There is no room for doubt or question. Either God is who He says He is, or there is no basis for our faith. In this text, God says that He is Elohim, the Strong One. God is omnipotent, and He demonstrated His infinite power by speaking the world into existence in six literal days. "And there was evening, and there was morning, one day". (Genesis 1:5) Some may consider creation to be an issue reserved for discussion among scientists. However, creation is purely an issue of faith. God said it and we are to believe it. He did not require that we reconcile what the Bible states with what science theorizes. In fact, in Romans 1, God revealed His judgment upon those who reject Him as the one and only Creator. How does placing my faith in my Strong Father enhance my worship? If I believe that God is who He says He is, then I will know that there is absolutely nothing too hard for Him. He can handle whatever comes my way. I will never face any situation that will be too hard for my God. Therefore, I can lift up praise for who God is and for what He is doing in my life. My worship, then, becomes more real, personal, and passionate. He is MY strong God, upon whom I can depend for anything!
