KneelTrue Worship by J. Ross Greer of The Place of Grace Ministries (about the ministry) [Note: If you'd like to read more from J. Ross Greer, be sure to subscribe to his daily e-mail list A Word For The Church.] 1O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD, Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 2Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. 3For the LORD is a great God And a great King above all gods, 4In whose hand are the depths of the earth, The peaks of the mountains are His also. 5The sea is His, for it was He who made it, And His hands formed the dry land. 6Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture and the sheep of His hand. Today, if you would hear His voice, 8Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, As in the day of Massah in the wilderness, 9When your fathers tested Me, They tried Me, though they had seen My work. 10For forty years I loathed that generation, And said they are a people who err in their heart, And they do not know My ways. 11Therefore I swore in My anger, Truly they shall not enter into My rest. What is to be the basic attitude of our hearts when we enter into worship? Submission. We are to kneel in spirit before the One who created us. We can certainly kneel physically as well. However, the issue is one of the heart. Are we surrendered to Yahweh? Is His will our will? Are His desires our desires? Do we long for intimacy with Him more than any other person or thing? Are we completely yielded to whatever He wants for our lives? This calls for an honest evaluation of our every area of our lives. Are our thoughts continually upon the Father and right to rule our lives? Is every word that falls from our lips what He would have us say? Does each decision we make in agreement with the will of our LORD for our lives? Submission is the most difficult achievement for any believer in that it strikes at the root of our flesh. We want a relationship with the Father, but we want it on our terms. Fortunately, it does not work that way. For God to be LORD at all, He must be LORD of all. Is there any area of our lives that we have reserved for ourselves? Are we in any way hardening our hearts toward the One we call Master? Let us yield. Let us submit. Let us bow down. Let us worship the LORD in full surrender and remember that we are sheep who must be led.
