Take It Back, It's Yours:
Devil, Get Outta My Secret Place
by Kenn Westenbroek (Kenn's bio)

We need to stand up with the authority given to us as joint heirs to the throne. Stand up with confidence and holiness. There is a place that can be attained. A safe place where the enemy can't just walk in and sit down. If you want to reach that place then you need to continue reading this article. These were the last words of my previous article. I hope and pray that these words not only sparked your attention but also penetrated your spirit.

In Psalm 91 David writes these words…..

1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.

"He that dwelleth"………..where is it that you dwell? Where does your mind dwell? Your emotions, where do they dwell? Do you find that these areas of your life are dwelling in places other than the secret place? What exactly is this secret place? Let's talk about these questions and see what God's word promises us concerning them.

The words "secret place" that we find in Psalm 91 means …to hide by covering. So we could read the verse to say this……."He that makes his hiding place under the covering of the Most High………….". Is God covering you? Is He your dwelling?

I believe a lot of Christians find themselves in the midst of turmoil on a daily basis simply because they never have stopped to consider the words of Psalm 91. Hey men!! Are you dwelling in the secret place for yourself or your family? Is there a lot of stress and dysfunction in the house that you only wish you knew how to get rid of? I am here to tell you that the "secret" is in the place. The secret is where you are choosing to be. All the promises of Psalm 91 are targeting the person who has chosen to be hidden in the covering of God. Anger, rage, perversion, adultery, addictions, violence, rebellion, complacency and many other afflictions press in to our lives daily driving us to a place of chaos. If you are not in your secret place, where are you? A dwelling seems to me to be a place that you are consciously choosing to linger. God's words say simply…"If you chose to linger in His presence, you will be given this place as an abiding place an abode. In the Hebrew it means…" To stay permanently".

WOW!!!! What a promise. If we will choose to dwell we will be given a place in God to abide. This excites me to no end. To think, men, a choice that simple could accelerate these promises into your life and the life of your family. Let's look at the promises. He'll be your refuge-a shelter, your fortress-the root of this word in the Hebrew means to "lay along side" just like a father would hover over his child to protect him. He will be your deliverer from the fowler or that which entangles you-he will snatch you from the hands of the enemy. He is you shield-a hedge of protection and your buckler-He will surround you. And to top it all off it is a place that you can trust Him. You will be comfortable there.

I challenge each and every one of you to give the devil a big boot and run to the secret place that God has for you. Dive into the Word and pray more. Ask God to give you a life of prayer. Teach your children. Pray about what you teach them. Study and pray and run to God with everything. It is a place of safety and it is a place where you, "YOU" need to be. Go ahead try it. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have the secret place to run to………

About Kenn Westenbroek: In December of 1996 God did an incredible thing in the life of Kenn Westenbroek. He turned it around 180 degrees when he came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Since then God has saw to it that no rock in Kenn's life remains unturned. Taking the nature of the old man and changing them to "new things". Getting people to focus on Jesus and not their problems and trials describes the heart of Kenn's ministry. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Kenn's life verse is John 3:30 He must increase, we must decrease.
