I have been blessed by God to be able to head up a bible study for men two times monthly at my home. It has opened my eyes and my heart to see that men need to be held accountable to one another and to open up their lives to others as a way to experience learning and healing. The more I meet and talk with these men I see the rocks in my own life being turned upside down and the darkness under those rocks being exposed. Men need to stand up and be men. We need to take hold of the reigns in the household as the priest and the prophet and not just the natural things we are responsible for as providers. Self, family, vision, goals, choices, finances, ministry, gifting and abilities should all be areas of focus. The devil has had men side tracked for so long that we don't even understand what the "right" thing is. We have a mass of cognitive distortions that we view as truth. There are things that we have accepted and fallen into or taken along with us on our Christian walk that shouldn't be there.

If you have the time and resources I would recommend a book that is a must read. It is also the current curriculum for my men's bible study. Stephen Strang authors the book; it is called OLD MAN NEW MAN. This book has begun for me a revolution of my insides. It has brought to my attention how I had so isolated myself that I had no one to turn to. It caused me to understand how valuable the counsel and prayers of others can be. Many of the men in the study have also begun to see the benefit of having a brother in the Lord to be accountable to. I hear a lot of men say things like, "I can't open up to other men." Others say, "I don't need accountability. I don't have a problem." Well I have news for each and every man reading. God created all men the same way. The devil doesn't like you more than me. His attacks and sneaky plans are targeted at you and your life just as he has targeted me.

The devil uses devices of allurement to trap men into different sins. Areas such as pornography, perversion, lust, wandering eyes, double-minded thoughts and lewd unchristian behavior. He accomplishes this through the mediums of television, radio, books, magazines and the Internet. God's Word says that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. When we take a second look at these things we open doors for the enemy to enter our lives. We men, each and every one of us, need to step away from this double-minded life style and stand up for Jesus and be counted as part of the righteous and not the world. It is time I believe for the Spirit of God to begin a mighty move amidst the men of America and the world. I have gifts and potential inside me that are needed by those around me. God placed these things inside me for everyone else but me. Likewise many men are sitting stupefied not beginning to utilize their potential. I don't know about you but I refuse to go to the grave rich with potential. I want to die empty. I have a holy anger that has risen up in me to combat the lies of the enemy, to stand before him with the truth of the Word and to face him with the Blood of the Lamb. He was defeated 2000 years ago. We need to stand up with the authority given to us as joint heirs to the throne. Stand up with confidence and holiness. There is a place that can be attained. A safe place were the enemy can't just walk in and sit down. If you want to reach that place then you need to continue reading this column. Until next time…………………
