How Was Your Day, Lord? by Wanda G. Schwandt (Wanda's bio) Were You lonely today? An elderly man received no visitors, A prison door slammed in a teenager's face, A child was scorned on the school play yard, I was too busy to talk with You over morning tea. Were You comforted today? A caring nurse squeezed an anxious patient's shoulder, A husband held his grieving wife, A homeless family received nourishing meals and warm beds, My son brought me a flower and a kiss. Did Your heart ache today? An abused boy was locked in a basement, An addict turned to drugs instead of You, A young man suffered alone with AIDS, My toddler wandered away in a crowded mall. Were You peaceful today? Rain showered on parched corn fields, Snow blanketed the land with a shimmery icing, Ocean waves crashed on the beach at sunset, My colicky daughter finally drifted to sleep. How was Your day, Lord? I searched for You in prayer and study. Then You showed me Your heart. Teach my heart to be one with Yours.
