Christmas by John Sherritt (John's bio) Send this page to a friend liquor store, Santa Claus No surprise that we forgot what it is about the cause, that lets us run away to empty stockings filled with dreams, of Christmas themes, and Christmas schemes. For finding nothing without thought, for finding pleasure can be bought Long ago a shining star to light a wise man's way, brought a promise much too far to be wrapped up on display. For on this day a child was born to a world that couldn't see, the purpose from His life was torn and given unto you and me. Now Angels gaze down on this world, souls drooping with dismay Curtains of tears, seeing meaning swirled, forgotten Christmas Day A day for repentance with thankful prayer, instead of expectance of glitter and glare. Forgive us please Father for this web we have spun, for when we forget, to remember Your Son. Though happiness may flow, and hearts be made true, we do not know what it is that we do.
