Mother earth pleads for refrain
To a world that doesn't see pain
IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED
THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH
Surging clouds of noxious consist
Infecting her tears with biting mist
AND GOD SAID "LET THERE BE LIGHT"
Landfill sites bursting their doors
Crater her face with open sores
AND GOD SAID
"LET THERE BE A FIRMAMENT
IN THE MIDST OF THE WATERS"
Dense, putrid, decaying dreams
Blanket her body and tear at her seams
AND GOD SAID
"LET THE DRY LAND BE CALLED EARTH"
Gutters reach skyward with chemical toll
Ripping her halo and chasing her soul

AND GOD SAID
"LET THE EARTH PRODUCE LIVING THINGS"

Forests cut at a dizzying pace
Catching her breath with fevered embrace

AND GOD SAID
"LET THE WATERS BRING FORTH LIVING CREATURES"
An unbridled lust for supreme domination
Unleashed on her creatures as predestination

AND GOD SAID "LET US MAKE MAN IN OUR IMAGE"
Goose stepping jesters rise up from within
Walk over brothers with fathomless sin
AND GOD SAW EVERYTHING THAT HE HAD MADE,
AND BEHOLD, IT WAS VERY GOOD
Gray bars, grim dungeon, sadistic mandate
Reeking of shame in the name of the state

AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY GOD RESTED FROM
ALL HIS WORK

Black man steps to the rear of the bus
His dignity stolen by white hooded pus
AND GOD SAW THAT THE WICKEDNESS OF MAN
WAS GREAT IN THE EARTH
Red man lies in a pool of despair
Without reserve would life be as fair
AND GOD WAS SORRY THAT HE HAD MADE MAN ON
THE EARTH, AND IT GRIEVED HIM
Cast on the wind an account of disgrace
Arrested by hope, wearing God's face

BUT SOME MEN FOUND FAVOR IN THE EYE OF GOD
Man looks at his world and sees his reflection
He shatters the mirror with frightened perception

THEREFORE GOD APPOINTED A SAVIOUR
A child is born to journey through life
Without having tasted the bile of greed's knife
FOR TO YOU IS BORN IN THE CITY OF DAVID,
A SAVIOUR, CHRIST THE LORD
