Destiny
by John Sherritt (John's bio)

Send this page to a friend

Trial of rehearsal
by jokers or pawns.
Shaping the future
as destiny dawns.
Exalting creation
with poisoned elation.
Jesus of Nazareth
brought up to the sky.
Truth destroyed,
leaving worlds to cry.
When sadness bearing,
hate uncaring,
hardens man's heart,
and shatters original
meaning apart.
To catch up in fiction
all reason found,
to see mankind's loss
nailed to the cross.
Jesus of Nazareth
Now lost to tradition
the meaning, the cost.
A hill at Golgotha
once shadowed in flame,
feels something lost,
hope lost in shame.
In every nation
the Scripture fulfilled.
Providing salvation
the Father has willed.
Jesus of Nazareth
pierced by the sword,
death saving grace,
Jesus our Lord.

Amen
