The Glue That Binds by Jan Lawler (Jan's bio) Send this page to a friend She was the Glue, that Bound us all together, She was the Mother of my Mother, and I never will forget her. The beauty of her steadfast, quiet Love, radiating like a halo, Still burns, deep, deep, down within my soul. The memory of her words of wisdom, Still echo in my being. Words like, "One can't help what they hear, But CAN help what they say." And, "If you can't say something nice, Don't say anything at all." Or, "Always wear clean underwear, You never know when you may be in an accident." To the world she was a pauper, Her worldly wealth was small. But to me, she was a saint, a pillar standing tall. For her wealth came from within, Her strength was Love and Devotion. And when troubled, with life's burdens, I'd go to her..., pour out my soul. She'd sit quietly and listen, A soft smile upon her face, Tender love streaming from her eyes. When I'd drained myself upon her, She had but, one thing to say. "I'll Pray for you, Honey." And with those tender, loving words, The world would fall away,.. all my troubles lifted, The burdens weighing heavy upon my shoulders..., gone. Granted, she had no physical solution, I knew she couldn't change a thing. But once she said those loving words, My heart would be washed clean. She was the Mother of my Mother, Her name,.... Anna Marie. She was but, a humble woman, But she meant the world to me.
