Much Love! by Kristenea M. LaVelle (Kristenea's bio) How long has it been since you sat at the Savior's feet and washed them with your tears? Or ministered in humility to the others around you by washing their feet? Have our hearts grown so cold toward one another that we can no longer see beyond our own cares to the needs of others, or to the commands of our Lord? Love one another. Look at the reaction of Simon the Pharisee, as he observes the humility and love of this woman who is ministering to Jesus. " This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner." Luke 7:39. The only thing he sees is that she is a sinner. He does not, or can not perceive the tenderness of the moment because the love in his heart has grown cold. He is only thinking selfish thoughts, giving no regard to the display of love and affection he sees before him. The eyes of his heart are blind. Jesus, in his tender mercies, gently reminds Simon that this woman unselfishly met his needs, while he, the host of the household, did nothing to minister to him. How many times do we find ourselves in this same situation? Focusing on our selfish thoughts and allowing the love and compassion in our hearts to wax cold? Have we forgotten the Savior in the process? Love is a choice. We choose to love others and to act in love toward them. Love is also a process. It takes time and effort to share our selves with others, care for their needs above our own and forgive wrong intentions. We need to be acutely aware that there is always a need to minister to each other in love. Love is longsuffering, bearing all things, believing all things and enduring all things. Without love, we are nothing and we gain nothing. John 15:12
