Knowledge of God
by Kristenea M. LaVelle (Kristenea's bio) Send this page to a friend Where do you stand in your knowledge of God right now? Have you been diligently devoting time, day by day, to increase your knowledge of God by studying His Word or has life been "too busy" for you to sit down and spend time reading your Bible? Let's take a look at some of the advantages of increasing your knowledge of God through the study of His Word. The Bible says that there are some wonderful, "built in" benefits from increasing our knowledge of God. To begin with, the Word is a " lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105. It provides guidance and direction for our journey in life and gives us light when and where we need it. The Word is always faithful to expose those misdeeds of the flesh that need to be "put off" so that we can grow and mature in Christ, but is there more? YES! If you want grace and peace to rule in your life, then it must come through the knowledge of God. If you want all the things that pertain to life and godliness, then it must come through the knowledge of God, and if you are looking for His exceedingly great and precious promises, then it must come through the knowledge of God. The key to obtaining all these things is through the diligent study of His Word. Each of us has been given a portion of faith and it is our responsibility to build upon that faith by diligently continuing to increase our knowledge of God. " add to your faith, virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; and to knowledge, temperance; and to temperance, patience; and to patience, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1:5-8 We, as children of the Most High God, cannot afford to miss out on the benefits that the knowledge of God brings into our lives. It is imperative that we seek after this knowledge so that we can always be prepared for whatever the world throws at us. Amen, and peace be to you as you continue in the knowledge of Christ!
