Promises of God by Kristenea M. LaVelle (Kristenea's bio) Send this page to a friend The Bible, our guidebook for living, is overflowing with the mighty promises of our heavenly Father. Since the beginning of creation, God has faithfully established His Word as the foundation on which we should center our lives. The promises of God are the seeds sewn into the future. They are the hope we cling to when affliction and strife prevail and when the things of this world seek to defy our faith in the Almighty. They even shape the way we live, hope and dream. From the beginning, God has communicated His promises to mankind through various signs and wonders. Through the faith of Noah, God promised to never flood the earth again and sealed the promise with a multi-colored arc in the sky, a constant reminder even to this day. Through the sacrifice of Jesus and His glorious resurrection from the dead, we cling to the promise of everlasting life. For the future, we look forward to the inheritance we have in Jesus and the promises He gives to those that overcome the world and the wiles of the devil. These precious promises of God were given to bring encouragement, hope and edification to the church and to the believer as an individual. They are the hope we embrace in the face of adversity and persecution, the weapons we use to fight off the enemy of our souls, and the foundation we build upon as we grow and mature in Christ. Jesus said, " the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63. Therefore, we have it on good authority that God's promises will stand the test of time, even as Jesus Himself is a living example of the most precious promise we have. I encourage you to search the Word of God and find the promises of life. Apply them, stand on them and lean on them in all manor of trials and tribulations. After all, that's why we have them: "Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God." 2 Corinthians 7:1
