The interior of our house is in need of repainting. I must confess that the walls will need a lot of prep work before we can even begin to paint. I suspect that the prep work will take four or five tomes longer than painting. Prep work aside, I think the hardest task about redecorating for Kathy and I is trying to decide on colours.
My tastes run to the garish and beyond. I'd have no problems with a set of Texas longhorns in the front entranceway to hang my hat on (the fact that it's a tiny entranceway and a good set of longhorns might fill it doesn't matter to me.) I don't stop to think about the impact a colour will have on a room, or whether the furniture will match. I'm more of a "that's a cool colour, let's use it" kind of guy. Kathy has more sensitive and refined tastes than I do. She knows that some colours will just not go together, or that some colours will make a room look smaller and other important things like that.
At one point it took us over a year of diligent searching to finally agree on a set of table lamps we both liked. We shop for colours and fabrics and each of us tries to be patient with the other. I've finally learned that saying "that's really ugly!" doesn't help when Kathy picks out something. I'm working on "I knew you would like that but it's not to my taste."
We are living proof however that Christians don't have to agree on everything.
There are many areas of Scripture that we can disagree on the interpretation of. There are areas where we simply don't have all the facts available to us.
There are also some areas that are essential to the faith on which there can be no compromise.
Some churches teach that the resurrection of Jesus was simply an analogy, it didn't really happen. If you're in a church that teaches that lie, run to a new church.
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men. 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 NIV
The crucifixion, death and resurrection of Jesus are real. I have seen too many lives transformed for them to have been a lie.
The next time a teacher of the Word tells you that it doesn't matter if His resurrection was real or not, gently tell them they're wrong and pray that they see the truth.
Be blessed

The resurrection of Jesus is a historical fact. If He came back from the dead as the evidence says that He does, perhaps you might want to look at His claims to be God and consider what He wants of you.
If you haven't made the decision to accept Christ as Lord, or don't know what I mean when I say this, email me and I'll share some Bible verses that explain why a personal relationship with Jesus is so important and a prayer that will make it possible.
