"I have come that they may have life and have it to the full" John 10:10

Meagan stared at her phone. It would not ring. She knew. But still she clung to some shred of hope that a miracle would happen. She played her wish over again in her head. "Hi Meg, it's Ron. Can you be ready in an hour? I'd like to take you to the Valentine party." She could imagine his voice perfectly. She could see his face as he spoke. It was a nice dream but no matter how long she stared at the phone, it would not ring. She might as well face it and accept that she would never go to a school event. She probably would never even leave her house. She would end up staying in her room forever. She had no life and that was that. Why would anything ever be different?…The phone rang. Meagan's eyes opened wide. Could it be?

Meagan believed nothing good could happen to her. She did not think things could change. What she had. What she knew. That was it. Have you ever felt that way? You're in a rut. You were born in a rut. There is no way to change, no way to dream, no way to see beyond the facts before you now.

Sweep that vision away because God has other plans for you. It is not His will that you are left out, overlooked or under appreciated. He gives you a full life. He gives you the best, which might not be exactly what you wish for, but it will be all you hoped for.

When Meagan answered the phone it was not her dream boy, Ron. It was her friend Melanie. Melanie told her that she saw Ron on the street drunk. He was not such a great guy after all. But that did not ruin the next hour for the Meagan. She stayed on the phone with Melanie talking, laughing and comparing notes on the rest of the guys in their class.

Lesson learned here? Don't give up hope. Don't summarize your future by looking at the past. Your "rut" may be a whole lot more lonely than never having a date but God's promises don't change no matter how bleak things look today. Give your all to God. He will see you through. There is a better day ahead. In the hand of your heavenly Father dreams do come true.
