Instant Message:
Open Windows

"Has anyone seen my E-mail?" Dina asks. About two hours ago she was working on a rebound to her friend's latest news flash. She thought, "I need a joke here". She connected to a joke web page where she read last week's jokes of the day then a box popped up with a deal on CD's she says she could not pass up. One click took her to a really cool page with MP3's and music video clips. She started a download when she saw this little flashing bar. It was a link to her favorite band's site. After that she does not know what happened. All she knew is two hours later; her screen was covered with a million open windows. Okay maybe it was only twenty but still she cannot find her E-mail.

It can happen while spinning the clock in cyberspace. Surfing the net riding one wave to the next, who knows where you will end up or what you will leave behind?

It can happen while swimming at the town pool too. Riding that wave of summer fun, who is thinking about where he' s headed? With one turn of the head the old stand bys, church, Bible study and time with God, are fast left behind.

For Dina there was a happy ending. After clearing the screen of all those open windows, she found her E-mail minimized and hiding behind a buddy list.

So what's up with you? How many windows do you have open? What is eating your time these days? Sure vacation takes a bite out of your usual routine. And of course who could expect you to ignore that new friend you met at the mall, the one that keeps you on the phone for hours? And how could you miss that party Saturday night even if it meant you were way too tired Sunday morning?

Or maybe things are just dragging, no excitement, no wild stories being written in your life. Now you are hanging in your room glued to your game system, your stereo, the floor, where ever.

Where ever? Where ever is your God? Oh, there He is. Minimized under a buddy list. But yes, no matter how you wander from the fire of your faith. No matter how distracted you are by all the things that come wailing into your life, your mind, hey even your body, God does not change His message. He loves you with an everlasting love. Nothing can separate you from His love. He paid a steep price for you. No way is He going to let you wipe Him off the screen of your life.

It is easy to get Him back to full screen as easy as the "click" of two hands coming together. Yes, that's right, pray. Close the windows that make it hard to see God and open that box in your heart that says, "I love you God. I want my time to count for you. I need you. Start something fresh in me again."

Don't let another drop of sweat slide this summer without splashing a prayer like this across your life.

(Check it out in the Bible: Jeremiah 31:3; Romans 8:37-39; 1 Corinthians 6:19)
