The GO Zone
Dave Weiss The GO Zone:
Thoughts from Dawn (my wife, as inspired, I believe, by the Holy Spirit)

I recently completed a sermon series on Surviving the Rat Race at my church, New Creation Fellowship (If you'd like to read the messages go to http://members.truepath.com/newcreation and click on the service link.) In one of my messages, I spoke on my own journey into the depths of the Rat Race, of a foolish, materialistic, goal I once had to be a millionaire by the time I was 30. This morning as I prepare to go on a short ministry trip, my wife awoke with a thought that I believe came from the Lord. I'd like to share it with you. She said:

“You said you wanted to be a millionaire by the time you were 30. Well the Lord gathered a million people to get you back on track. What more could you want?” I was staggered by the truth off the statement. It made me think back to one of the greatest days of my life. The day that the God of the Universe drew me out of the Rat Race and back to Him.

This day was a great symbol of God working in His own time. I was 33 when it happened, Stand in the Gap, Washington DC. It may sound arrogant to think that God did that just for me, but the fact of the matter is, I believe that I am not the only man that was there that day who feels that way and I believe that we are just now beginning to see the fruit of what happened on that warm October day in 1997. Secondly, I believe in a God who would die on a cross for me even if I was the only one. Surely the gathering of 1,000,000 men to have that kind of impact on one person.

My prayer is that God might allow me to repay Him by leading 1,000,000 people to Him. That may seem like a lofty goal, but I don't care how He does it. It's not a numbers game for me. Maybe He will allow me to address the masses or maybe he will allow me to lead someone to Christ who will. After all how many fewer people would have their names written in the Lamb's Book of Life had someone not led Billy Graham to Christ?

How will God use me? I haven't a clue. Maybe He'll let me use the internet or write a book that will inspire and motivate people to turn to Him and use their lives to His glory. Maybe He'll use the small ministry He has blessed me to begin or some of the youth that I have been privileged to serve so far. But the point is I don't care how He does it as long has He uses me. This stopped being about me a long time ago. Evangelism isn't about me, you, churches, ministries, pastors or anything else. Evangelism is about Jesus. Sharing the Gospel should be a natural extension of our gratitude for the sacrifice Jesus made to set us free.

Are you allowing God to use you? Are you opening your heart to hear Him and follow Him? Are you following Paul's admonition to “do the work of the evangelist”? Now is the time to let God use you. You don't have to keep a tally or concern yourself with numbers, just trust God, do what He says and be faithful, and then GO!
