Dave Weiss The GO Zone:
The Top Ten Tools for Evangelism (Part Two)

Last time we looked at the first five tools for spreading the Gospel and today we will look at five more. This is by no means a comprehensive list. There are as many ways to share the Gospel as there are believers. As with the last list, the goal in this is to show you that in a church that believes in the priesthood of all believers, everyone of us is equipped to share the Gospel. As you use these tools keep in mind that God works in His own timing. Just because you don't see immediate results doesn't mean nothing's happening.

6. Love--This is another one that could have, quite possibly been number one. After all the Bible tells us that God is love. Jesus tells us that we should love our neighbor as ourselves and that people will know we are His disciples by the way we love one another. People in this world are looking for love but much like the old country song, they're looking for love in all the wrong places. It's about time we direct them in the right direction and start loving people into the kingdom.

7. Answers--People have a thousand and one questions about life, the universe and everything. Having some answers for them may be a powerful tool to lead them into the Kingdom. Put yourself in their shoes. The world offers a lot of answers and more than a few of them are not even close. The regrettable part of all of this is that often the church answers these questions with clichés, bumper stickers, “Christian-ese,” and a bunch of other irrelevant things that force the world to look in another direction. When someone asks you a question, answer it, not with the Sunday school answer but with the truth. Be real. If you struggle with something, say it. If you don't know the answer, admit it, but seek the truth together with this person. Remember, ultimately we serve the way, the truth and the life. Our answers can be found in Him and His Word. They will show the way, they must be the truth and they can lead to life eternal.

8. Presence--The art of being there. We serve a God that said that HehHe will never leave nor forsake us. He is always there for us. But what about someone who doesn't know Jesus? To tell them He is with them and will never leave them is no comfort to them. So you need to “be Jesus” to them, with your presence, at least until you can point them to the one that will never leave. People in our society often feel like “throw aways” or castaways. Your presence will let them know this is not the case. When we decide to represent Jesus to others we can become evidence to them that He is real and he cares and that, my friend, can have eternal significance.

9. Friendship--This could be similar to presence and can be an off-shoot of presence but to my mind this goes deeper. Friendship is a loving way of being involved in someone's life. Think about your best friend. How do you feel when you're around that person? Out there in the world, there are millions of people dying to feel that way. Reach out. Become involved in someone's life. Be a friend and you will see an open door to share the Gospel. Remember what Michael W. Smith said, “Friends are friends forever, if the Lord's the Lord of them.” Leading a friend to Christ can be the easiest evangelism there is. You already have their trust, their companionship and their love all you need to do is point them in the right direction.

10. Your feet (or your car, or your phone, or your computer, or your wheelchair... take your pick) Jesus didn't say sit and wait in the church and look for the new faces that enter, Jesus said, GO!
