Face to Face: God is Almighty by J. Ross Greer of The Place of Grace Ministries (about the ministry) [Note: If you'd like to read more from J. Ross Greer, be sure to subscribe to his daily e-mail list A Word For The Church.] 14:20And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." 16:13Then she called the name of the LORD who spoke to her, "You are a God who sees"; for she said, "Have I even remained alive here after seeing Him?" 17:1Now when Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty; Walk before Me, and be blameless. We often view ourselves as being strong or invincible. That is until we face a battle that is larger than we are. The verses above feature a name of God that begins with El, or the strong one. See if you can relate to any of these circumstances. El Elyon, the God Most High, is the Father who gives us victory over our enemies. Who is the enemy of your soul? How has he attacked you or your family today? Can you defeat the evil one? Of course not, but "greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world" (I John 4:4). I Samuel 17:47 reminds us that "the battle is the LORD'S". Stand firm in God's armor (Ephesians 6:10-20) and watch how the Most High God defeats the enemy for you. Do you ever feel all alone, that no one knows your trials? Imagine Hagar. She had been driven away by Sarai because she was carrying Abram's child. She thought she was completely alone in the wilderness when El Roi, the God who sees, arrived on the scene. God sees your situation, is nearer than you can imagine, and is waiting for you to call upon Him. El Shaddai, our Almighty, All-Sufficient God fulfilled His promise of a son to Abraham when common sense and reason said it was impossible. The Father never lacks the ability to fulfill what He has promised His people. For what are you trusting your Almighty God: Employment? A life partner and family? Next semester's tuition payment? Money for food and bills? God Almighty knows your every need and will meet them in His way and time. Watch how God works and praise Him when He does. God desires an intimate relationship with you. God wants you to know Him so that you will trust and depend upon Him. When you trust and submit yourself to His will, God acts on your behalf. He defends you, sees you, and meets your "impossible" needs. Then, God receives all the praise and glory of which He is due from you. Be still
