Face to Face:Testimony by J. Ross Greer of The Place of Grace Ministries (about the ministry) [Note: If you'd like to read more from J. Ross Greer, be sure to subscribe to his daily e-mail list A Word For The Church.] 1Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, "Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him." 34"For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure. 35"The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 36"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." In this text, we have two testimonies about Jesus, one from Nicodemus and the other from John the Baptist. As we see what they said about Jesus, we must reflect upon what people see in our lives. Nicodemus saw the evidence of the Father through the works of the Son. More definitely, he thought the works were impossible apart from God's power. How much of our life is just ordinary flesh work? How many times do we live lives of faith that depend fully upon the presence of God? Do those around us see clear evidence of God through the works that He does in our lives? John noted the presence of God through the words of Jesus. Do our friends and family hear the words of God flowing from our mouths? Do we speak words of life or words of death? The Father entrusted all things into the hands of the Son. What responsibilities has He given to us? Wherever we are, God expects us to proclaim His truth the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Father also anticipates that we will reveal His love through our actions. What is our testimony? Do the people that watch our lives (and they do watch) see the presence of Jesus flowing out of our lives? If He lives and reigns within us, then He will be evidence in our every word and deed.
