Face to Face: Relationship by J. Ross Greer of The Place of Grace Ministries (about the ministry) [Note: If you'd like to read more from J. Ross Greer, be sure to subscribe to his daily e-mail list A Word For The Church.] 34:29It came about when Moses was coming down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the testimony were in Moses' hand as he was coming down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because of his speaking with Him. 30So when Aaron and all the sons of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone, and they were afraid to come near him.31Then Moses called to them, and Aaron and all the rulers in the congregation returned to him; and Moses spoke to them. 32Afterward all the sons of Israel came near, and he commanded them to do everything that the LORD had spoken to him on Mount Sinai. 33When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face 34But whenever Moses went in before the LORD to speak with Him, he would take off the veil until he came out; and whenever he came out and spoke to the sons of Israel what he had been commanded, 35the sons of Israel would see the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses' face shone. So Moses would replace the veil over his face until he went in to speak with Him. What kind of relationship do you desire to have with the Father? Do you want to know Him? Do you long to know His heart? Do you long for an intimate walk like that of Enoch? "Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him" (Genesis 5:24). Do you want to come away with a face that shines after being in His presence? Let me first state the obvious. In order to have a relationship, there has to be a connection, a common bond or interest, a reason for relating. To have a relationship with God, we must have His Son. 1 Timothy 2:5-6 states "For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the proper time". Jesus Christ has bridged the gap between the Father and His enemies us. If we receive the gift of the Son, we have a relationship with the Father, a relationship that can never again be broken. To have an intimate relationship with God, we must know each other. Clearly, He knows us. Therefore, we need to know Him. Fortunately, we have His Word, which gives us insight into who God is and how He works. In our time together, we will seek to grow in our understanding of the Father in order to draw closer to Him. One of the results of intimacy with God is seeing ourselves more clearly. It is not a pretty sight, but it is necessary to deepen our walk with Him. Always remember, if you are in Christ, you belong to the Father. You are continually loved by Him and accepted beyond measure no matter what.
