Digging in the Word
by T. Suzanne Eller (Suzie's bio) Send this page to a friend Hebrews 13:15 ". . .Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praisethe fruit of lips that confess his name." Fruit. That's an interesting word to use. Fruit can be wonderfully delicious orange that spills juice down your chin, OR it can be an over-ripe spotted apple that mushes when you bite into it. It was interesting to interview the people in the first story. Who knew how much Cassie's words would impact a discouraged teacher? Cassie Bernall handed Coach Seifert an orange that day. When she died she poured out a seed of confession that stirred growth across a nation. The encouragement she received from her teacher, her friends, her youth pastor and parents helped her to find her way. They offered her good fruit. The hypocrite in Blake's church gave him a rotten apple. Her testimony and her life offered nothing that could help him find nourishment. The fruit only spawned more questions, like seeds, but these seeds produced only doubt. What is the fruit that comes from your life?
