And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
John 1:46
In the Western world, most people have heard about Jesus. In fact, they have heard many things about Him. Some true. Some false. Some dancing the line between truth and falsehood. They may have heard He was a great teacher or prophet. They may have heard He was a healer. Some may have even heard He was a fraud or perhaps didn't even exist.
Since childhood, I had heard about Jesus. The false religion I grew up in told me Jesus was a prophet and messenger of God equal in standing to men such as Muhammad and Buddha. I had heard about Jesus but never experienced Him until I was nineteen years old. Then some eager Christian college students encouraged me to forget what I had heard about Jesus and to Come and see.
Come and see. Come and see how Jesus showed His love for you. See the nail prints in His hands and the spear wound in His side. See how He poured out His love by pouring out His life. See the crown of thorns of a suffering king willing to share His majesty with sinners like you and me.
Come and see. Come and see the Creator who stepped down into creation. See the hands that flung the stars into the sky take on human form. See the Savior who understands our grief because He has walked our weary path. See the Messiah with open arms, ready to comfort our aching hearts.
Come and see. Come and see the Lord who beat death and rose from the grave. See Him waiting for you to join Him. See Him prepare the way for His bride and see Him return for her on the appointed day.
Come and see.
