Radically Real: The Quest for Authenticity David C. Weiss Writers Exchange E-Publishing ISBN 1 920741 02 X E-book. 186 pages. Review by Jason Mitchener (Read Jason's bio) Send this page to a friend [Disclaimer: David Weiss is a writer for crosshome.] I have often wondered why many people don't become Christians. I'm sure there are many reasons, including ignorance of the truth and stubbornness. For years, I've felt a primary reason why many don't become Christians is they feel there are too many hypocrites in the Church. An unbeliever may ask, If Christians are not living honest lives, why should I become a Christian? I've thought that if unbelievers saw reality in Christians, they would be more eager to give their lives to Christ. Author David Weiss seems to agree. In his e-book, Radically Real: The Quest for Authenticity, Weiss writes: The world out there is looking for answers. The world is out there looking for people who know a better way. The world is doing everything it can to fill a hole that can only be filled by God. Drugs, alcohol, STD's, crime, immorality and a host of other social ills are not the disease, they are the symptoms of a society that has turned its back on God. The only cure for these symptoms is to return to God. Widespread revival brought on by the Holy Spirit working through Christians serious about the Gospel and salvation through Jesus Christ is what is needed. The world is groping in darkness for the light of Jesus Christ. They will examine Christians closely so we have got to be ready. We have got to be Radically Real! Are you up to the challenge? In each chapter of his book, Weiss gives examples of radically real believers. People who showed true love and commitment. People who sacrificed everything to follow God. The author realizes though that Jesus needs to be our ultimate example. Weiss writes: Jesus was the prototype for Radically Real Christians. He took it to the streets. He reached out to the people that the religious leaders would not have touched with a ten-foot pole. This caused the respectable people of the day to look down on Him, but make no mistake about it, it was the Will of the Father. Radically Real isn't the first book on this subject, and I'm sure it won't be the last. But it will challenge you to take a deeper look at your Christian walk. What kind of witness are you showing to the world? Are you radically real?
