With the loss of her brother's ransom price and her own freedom, Deirdre must trust in God's mercy and His plan for her future. Although tribulation and miracle walk hand in hand with Deirdre throughout the book the reader is never left feeling that the events are beyond reality.
The author of this Celtic journey creates characters of unusual depth. Their credible faults show God's strength, their imperfections grow into beauty under His hand, and hatred is transformed to love by the Lord's mercy and grace. She has created a heroine that wields a sword with skill yet never loses her vulnerable femininity. Linda Windsor is a master at her craft. This is a Celtic love story with substantially more body than the usual romance novel. Its characters are marvelous and I recommend it top every woman's summer reading list.
