How do we feel after the locusts hit our lives? Devastated, empty, stripped, naked, our feelings raw and bleeding. Any woman who has felt this way will benefit from Ms. Coleman's book.

She uses detailed personal anecdotes from her own life and the lives of more than ten of her friends to show the steps of locust devastation and God's rebuilding promises. The book of Joel serves as the biblical basis for this book, but the stories are interspersed with applicable quotes and verses from other areas of the Bible. Thoughts such as, "You can't have rosy thoughts about the future when your mind is full of the blues about the past" and quotes like, "It's the friends we can call up at 4 a.m. that matter" sit among Ms. Coleman's words. All of these fit seamlessly into the book, magnifying the impact of her shared experiences.

Divorce, death of a child, suicide of a husband, poverty, and illness are only a few of the serious issues lived through by women in this book. This book walks the reader through the steps devastated women took to recover their self-esteem and their joy. Every woman can relate an experience in her life to the intense loss and slow rebuilding process. God used this process to create a deep relationship with Him and allow these women to minister to others in pain.

Ms. Coleman says it best, "Only God can fulfill this promise to take the remnants of your ruined dreams, the residue of your wasted years, and to transform them into a bumper crop that will more than compensate for everything you've lost. It's a sure thing. If He's your Lord, you've got His spiritual IOU."

This book reads like an intriguing novel. I found it more engaging than many works of fiction I have read and had a hard time setting it aside for meals. I highly recommend this book to every woman who has experienced heart-rending pain or loss. It will provide guidance, hope, and encouragement. God loves you and will restore the years the locusts have eaten.
